Strategic PlanUmeschandra College has successfully implemented online admission system for the students of first year in accordance with the Govt. orders and subsequent notification of Calcutta University since the academic session 2011-12. The admission committee under the guidance of the principal carries out the entire admission procedure from publication of admission notification to the document verification of the newly admitted students and their registration in the University of Calcutta. The online admission process of Umeschandra College commences after publication of the Higher Secondary Examination result of the various central and state boards like CBSE, ISC, WBCHSE etc. A notice is published in the college website by the admission committee furnishing details of the admission process such as qualifying marks, subject combination, fees, mode of payment and detailed instructions on how to fill up the online application form and submit it. The college administration has employed a service provider (Infotech Lab) to handle all online admission procedures. Following the receipt of all online application forms from prospective candidates, the admission committee determines the cut off marks based on the intake capacity as per Calcutta University norms, and all details are submitted to the Governing Body and the Finance Committee for approval, post which the provisional merit list is published on the website. The selected candidates can now submit their fee online and the Admission Committee issues a notification stating the day, time, and other data pertaining to the document verification of the newly admitted students. This document verification process is done offline in the college campus and the students bring their original documents for verification. If all the documents of a candidate are found correct and valid, his application form is accepted, and he is considered as a bonafide student of the college. In case of vacant seats, if any, candidates are called from the waiting list and the same admission procedure is repeated. Finally, the details of the newly admitted first semester students are forwarded to the University for Registration. A Help Desk is run by the Admission Committee during the entire admission period to assist the candidates who face any technical difficulties.
